Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

Oh so you mean that Tony didnt choose Barnaby, that he had no choice ... so his saying that all members were chosen purely on merit is just another lie from him?
The Liberal and National Parties have for many years a formal Coalition agreement.Front bench representation is divided according to the relative numbers of members representing each party. The liberal leader by convention picks the Liberal members of the Front bench the National leader picks the National partys members of the front bench.
So your accusing TA of choosing Barnaby is based on a misunderstanding of this convention.
By the way do you really believe the ALPs shadow cabinet was picked on Merit?

Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

I would rather see people being appointed by merit than just because they are female. Bragging about composition of leaders as percentages being family people, females, yada yada is a nonsense.

So do only dumb women join the Coalition? Is that the real problem here?? [BTW - I think you are right!]

Where did I say that? My point was that, in my opinion, if Barnaby is the yardstick by which "merit" is judged - by either of the Coalition partners - then the other 75% of the caucus must be a fairly dimwitted bunch.

You made a statement about the Coalition's front bench so I am asking a question of you re the ALPs front bench. So do you think the ALPs front bench was chosen on merit?
Simple question.

Just a typical distraction from someone still hung up on the ALP. Perhaps they need to keep reminding themself that this thread is about Abbott in government.

Nothing of the sort.I answered your point re Barnaby joyce.
Many from the left raise questions re consistency.
So I asked a question re your thoughts on the ALPs front bench.A perfectly legitimate question.

I thought that kind of expression went out with the dark ages.

Coaltion doesn't use the term Caucus so I am saying you are correct.
;)

As opposed to the previous election thread, which also canvassed topics widely divergent from the election itself.

I think the question is a valid one, and I'd be interested in seeing a response.

Indeed. Simple but completely irrelevant question.

Ah so I see the method is when asked an embarrassing question it is time to turn to personal attacks.
And to see what I really feel about that subject let me make it clear-:p;):shock::shock::p:p;):p

Ummm.. Maybe a couple of aspirins and a good lie down will help.

Personal Attacks? Someone needs a bex and a good lie down.

The fact remains that Abbott campaigned on the basis that he was BETTER than the ALP. The Abs-lovers here supported that campaign on the basis that the LNP would be BETTER than the ALP. But when it comes to it, when the LNP is held to their promise of being BETTER than the ALP. The blind LNP supporters decide that the appropriate benchmark is being the SAME as the ALP. I'm sorry if you cannot handle having the hypocrisy pointed out, instead of crying about it why not try living up to the standard that you promised? If Abbott is not better, if he is just the same then his whole campaign is a lie. Instead of lashing out because you have been sucked in by a lie, how about demanding what Abbott promised you, demanding what you promised the rest of Australia. Or perhaps you were aware of Abbott's lie and just went along with it.

Either way Abbott has been caught out and you have been caught out for supporting him. How about owning it, instead of trying to distract with irrelevance.

Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

As Parliament hasn't even been recalled yet I am going to take a bex and lie down and actually wait until an appropriate judgement on the Coalitions performance can be determined. And not jump at shadows.

Absolutely to try and make any judgement on Abbot's performance at this stage is a joke but I wouldn't expect anything different.

I suppose the need to raise the debt ceiling is TA's fault too I mean he should have had it sorted by now couldn't be anything to do with the inept former government.

Then there's the Socceroos back to back 6-0 defeats, The Wallabies getting trounced, the cricket!!! All while Abbot was PM.

And Adam Bandt would blame him for the fires too. A pox on the man.

Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

See again not answering an embarrassing question but going on this time with a genuine personal attack.
I agree that there is a lot of hypocrisy here but I am not part of it.

Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

let me guess the gang of 5 are asking "simple" questions about the ALP. Sorry but this is about Abbott and the LNP not the ALP. As I said well over a year ago, the ALP is irrelevant. Stop obsessing about the ALP. Tell us how the LNP is better, Tell us how ripping off the taxpayer is better. Tell us how NOT reversing government debt is better. Tell us how the more expensive "direct action" to achieve the same target is better.

Re: Oz Federal Election 2013 - Discussion and Comments

Medhead I used to respect your opinions even when we disagreed.Your performance on this thread means I no longer have any respect for your opinion.plus I thought I was on your ignore list-please restore that function.
So Julia Gillard attends the wedding of a member of her staff.costs taxpayers $26000-not repaid.
Wayne swan takes his daughter to an NRL finals match-costs the taxpayers $12000-not repaid.
Tony Abbott takes part in a Port Macquarie Ironman event which he has done every year.As always he was raising money for the Mcgrath foundation and again as always attends a function at the Port Macquarie hospital which again occurs every year. And he was the Opposition leader and Port Macquarie is in an electorate that the Coalition needed to win.But that is ripping off the taxpayer.
You see the hypocrisy and double standards really amazes me.
