Australian Cricket Season 2023-2024

i think the MCC will sort that out. Not as though they will be playing there again for four years so those ancient members won't likely be around then. The long room is an interesting place and they treat it with more reverance than Westminster Abbey.
And right on cue. Just heard that MCC has suspended three members for verbal abuse.

Until today

The MCC members being so woke

And here I was thinking they’d all be asleep

Members who “chucked out”disparaging words to the opposition players ought be “chucked out”

I don't think it was a woke thing, just indignation that Aussies had tricked them in their own game. Bairstow tried the same thing earlier. Not sure why they got stuck into Kawajha though.

Good cricket. POMS do get upset when the famed BAZ ball doesn't materialise.

Barstow is a bit of an idiot it seems. But stumping was legal, just like Stark’s “grounded” catch disallowed.

Stokes played a stunning innings, and, after 40 overs of ridiculous in the slot bazball bouncers, Stark finally bowled at the stumps to take the last wicket!!

English cricket team confused by wicketkeeper actually capable of getting opponent out

Perhaps the England coach thought Carey had started bowling the next over when he under-armed the ball at the stumps, and "that" memory led him to label the Aussies as cheats? 🙀

Many of the British press aren't praising their national team except for Stokes who deserves it
It's going to make for interesting discussion at Christmas time when we visit sons in laws on Christmas Day in the UK.

During the wedding reception last year, we presented sons FIL with something we said he wasn't likely to see again - we'd bought a replica of The Ashes urn with us, and presented it to him during our speech! It now sits right in the middle of their lounge room mantelpiece. He, like MrP is a cricket fanatic and they have been 'exchanging' emails, but all good banter.

(It was a fancy dress reception, MrP came as a cricketer. Of course. 😀)

I read an interesting take on the Carey-Bairstow thing...If Carey had missed, would Bairstow have been off for overthrows, or is that not in the spirit of cricket?

I reckon they would have run, assuming they could think that quick. And run fast. But of course they won't admit that now. Be a good question for a reporter to ask though.

What's even worse than the utter hypocrisy of McCallum , Bairstow and Broad was that Carey threw the ball before Bairstow had left the crease.

2:0. ...that's all that needs to he said to the English cricket team...they can sulk, call us cheats etc...we should reply: 2:0...in fact break out into a song, Two Nil...Two....Niiiil! ;)

Cheats just about sums it up. Extremely embarrassing to claim a wicket under those circumstances.

Recalling Bairstow was the only option and they failed.

P.S. 2 very close matches that could have gone either way. 2-0 up is extremely flattering.
