1x J DPS-SIN-PER on SIA ticketed on the phone manually with a slight hitch with credit card payment 40,000 miles(April)
4x J DUB-IST-NRT on TK, 75,000miles p/p booked online(October)

Turned up to work today to find the new roster had me working 1 day in a week after coming back from holiday next month

Quickly logged into to LM and found TG F BKK to SYD available for a week later.

Suffice to say new flight booked and now need to give them a call to cancel the old booking.

Was surprised there was F available back on both flights 29th march.

Lots of easy availability from SYD/MEL to Tokyo,......but for goodness sake I don't want to take Air India!

Surely their 787 J product is better then TG 747 ex SYD or 772 ex MEL... or not?

Indeed it is... streets ahead. And DEL airport is superior to BKK. Service and food on AI/TG are equal (both have their bad points).

The issue is the flight time. AI's shortest connection is around the 27 hour mark, compared to around 16-18 hours on TG.

However... on AI at least you'll arrive well rested and ready to hit the ground.

Just ticketed: SIN-NRT-SFO F (UA-NH) for USD650.82 + 61,000 points (smallest co-payment / largest points amount for the sweet spot)

The SIN-NRT leg also showed up in NH but kept erroring out, so I'm trying to get them to change it, because United.

I've also made three other SIN<>NRT bookings on NH F lately for USD332.03 or USD335.29 (depending on direction) + 31,000 points (sweet spot again).

Just booked 2 x SYD-bkk-SIN in TG J for US$690 (AU$914) or, that is, 17,000 miles + US$435.

Also having a crack at 1 x MEL-SIN(-cgk-kul) for 40K miles with the intention to ditch the latter 2 legs (or use them as proof that booking only the first leg should be possible). Will see how the LifeMiles e-mail support goes on that one...

SYD - BKK on TG J Jan 29th 2016. It was strange that when I looked earlier today not much availability and then suddenly from the 28th till about the 4th Feb there were seats just about every day.

I was also able to get KUL <CKG SIN> SYD on LH and SQ on Feb 14th but ended up getting a 1299RM Air Asia J seat home

I also saw BKK <KUL SIN> SYD for the 17th Feb on Egpyt Air and SQ

Looks like I'll be heading to Lord Jims for my Birthday :D

BKK-SYD early May

2 * F. 48k + $1270 USD all in. had to buy 6k at full price, but now have whittled the balance down to 500 points.

seat map currently showing as a 9 seater - would 1A, 1K be best for couple, or 2A, 2F? (there seems to only be one seat in row 2 middle)

cheers

Any 'conversation' between 1A & 1K would be heard by all. They are about 2m apart.

2A, 2F would be a little closer but seats are offset, not parallel (again, inconvenient for chatting).

Your choice in the end but I'd prefer 2/3 A or K.

1A/K are best for couple. Close enough to talk and very private. Your next best option would be 3E/F but it's too close to toilets and galley, better not select it, especially on overnight flights.

Is this on 747? If so, I definitely agree with Boomy. We did 2E/F which were good, but IMO 1A/K are the best.

depends on the configuration- on the 9F version 2EF doesn't exist.

On the old config the middle seats are even worse, they are completely exposed.
I think 1A/K is the "safe" choice considering how much TG likes swapping it's 747s...
