So tempted to open that silver envelope

Go ahead. I'd love to know what targeted offers flybuys then eventually send you and what you think of them. I've learnt lots from your advice on EDR offers on this thread and I'd love to get a few tips from you about how to make the best use of flybuys offers on the flybuys threads.

happy to oblige..... Will report my findings, however a quick look at webjet shows much pain in redemptions...! I can only hope there is good earning possibilities on the other side...

shintaro 10x .. i think the webjet redemptions are the worst option re redemptions. I'd prefer to pay for my flights with my NAB flybuys card - get the points for the transaction and then take the points as a cashback to the NAB card... but i maynot have the points/earn/burn ration right.

Yeah the webjet redemptions are like half a cent for every point redeemed. Last minute hotel bookings I think are relatively good value. Thankfully I finally got a QFF earning CC, so the pain of the cough offers by EDR has slightly been tempered by regular QFF CC points.

Just if Velocity partnered with Flybuys, oh what a good war it would have been between Flybuys (Virgin) v EDR (Qantas).

All done..... I await the welcoming party

The $2,000 of Coles 5% off gift cards arrived in 7 days from ordering from National Seniors so I am happy it is faster in 2013.
Flybuys are basically pretty ordinary so don't get thinking you can fly best available using that method.
My Woolies credit card has some definite wear on the edges as I use it when someone chooses not to take Amex or wants a surcharge. Everyday Rewards has reduced but it is still nice way to pick up Qantas points on a myriad of household expenses.

Is the 5% discount really worth losing out on the extra 2ppd of the Plat Edge compared to the Woolies CC?
You can be almost 10cpp 'value' when redeeming with SQ so it feels like I'd be 'losing' a lot going the gift card route.

Yes I get these cards for the olds who are past travelling and I get the FF points on the purchase of the cards.
Platinum Edge can work a treat.

I have ordered $2,000 of Coles Gift cards from National Seniors for $1,902 and that takes a couple of weeks. Of course I paid on the Woolies EDRCC !
I wonder if they track "cross border" use and are concerned you have switched from Wish cards to Coles :o

I always help Woolies by buying the Coles Gift cards on Woolies EDRCC.
Of course I enjoy doing that to help them.

what we need is somewhere that takes Amex for gift cards

Newk when you get $8,000 of gift cards through Woolies you can get them for $7,600 plus delivery on your point and a half Amex card. We use a couple of these at work.

You can buy Woolies Wish Cards at Woolworth with Amex, and if using Amex Plat Edge card you get the 3 points/$. but you don't get the 5% discount that is offered by some of the "membership" clubs/groups. even if the groups selling the cards at a discount accept Amex, they won't show as "major supermarket" merchants and hence not earn at 3 points/$ on the Edge card.

A small top up yesterday

I was wanting to double dip and get 1.5points/$ AND the discount. Cove seems to suggest that is possible but only in industrial quantities :)
