Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Also during the meal service, there are usually 2 glasses (one for water and the other for wine) placed on the dressed table. But only one glass (for water) was placed on the table and the wine glass from the post-take off drink service also becomes the wine glass for the meal service.
Perth transcon is a different service style to standard domestic J tray service.

IME standard domestic J always has two fluted glasses on the tray table and a coffee mug (regardless of whether you require them or not) some FAs will however take away unused glasses if you decline their wine or water offering. IME on PER transcon drink-ware is only provided as required, and if you continue drinking the same pre-meal drink* through into your meal - then you will not be provided with a fresh glass, for the refill, unless you ask for one. (*pre-meal drink service is only on longer domestic J tray service flights & PER transcon routes.)

IMO Virgin is much smarter about cost control, and only delivers drink-ware as required - on all domestic J tray services.

Flew on QF 497 from SYD to MEL last night and was offered a choice of tomato soup, cheese plate or pasta salad with chicken for refreshment. Selected the pasta which was in a pesto dressing and accompanied by some poached chicken.

The CSM also came around to offer pax sourdough bread (not pictured).

QF605 BNE/MEL (17/6)

Cabin was full as expected. Option was Brookfield Museli or piece of (can't recall what she named it) egg & potato pie with tomato, pork sausages. Danish was nice but the sausages were dry, didn't taste of pork and unappetising

By comparison, cooked breakfast earlier in BNE Business Lounge an hour earlier:

Business Lounge wins hands down

I was recently on QF409, and in anticipation of disappointment also had the scrambled egg and bacon in the J lounge (which I thoroughly enjoyed).

The CSM would not accept my refusal of the Muesli or baked egg something or other on the plane, and "forced" me to accept a danish. It kept her happy for me to accept , but really if I couldn't eat breakfast in the lounge I would probably take the meal and just eat the sourdough bread which I find quite good.

The meal back from MEL on QF450 was cheese box or soup. Quite like the cheese box, but guess what, SWMBO go the last one!! The soup was ok, and the sourdough was quite good.

Had the worst inflight meal I've ever had the Friday before last on SYD-BNE. I sent it back - it was just inedible.

My partner sent back his too (it was the alternate choice but I can't remember what it was).

I knew something was up when the cabin crew started tucking into the very nice sounding economy meal boxes instead of the leftover business meals which they usually do.

Yeah, I've had that one before... but even worse, imagine it without the sauce (it must've got missed in the catering area..). The prawns were nice, but it was just very dry.

Well worth the 5K points to upgrade. Only had a small breakfast in the Lounge (time was at a premium). Potato frittata IIRC with sausage, tomato. Other offer was the muesli - but I have that every day at home so I like opting for a cooked breakfast. Excellent service.

QF548 SYD/BNE 27 July:

CSM on this flight had it easier - 11/12 in J, with a Gold shadow for me in 2D. Dinner was tasty but can't remember what it was. Black olives in the sauce made it beautiful - but only 3. Washed down with a couple of glasses of Red.

Very disappointing food and the seats on the A330 travelling from Sydney to Perth last week were appalling, had the middle two with a buffer in the middle seat, felt like I was travelling inter Europe Business rather than trans continental, no more Qantas, give me Virgin business seats and food on their a330s anyday!

That sounds like the older 2-3-2, possibly an ex-JQ plane. You wont see this config around for much longer. And which food did you have? Let us know what to avoid. :)

It could either be one of the returning JQ aircraft, or one of the Recaro seats.

Not quite Euro business but yes the sooner the suites come in the better.

QF656 ADL/BNE 27 August

Two options were roast chicken salad OR prawns with Thai green curry. No prize for guessing which one I had. The prawns were really well cooked and the carrot cake was the right size

I just found these Qantas meals on my phone, which I don't think I have uploaded previously.

That's the Spanish chicken with potato. Quite nice. Had it on the 28th SYD-MEL for dinner.

Looking at the above posts, I had a the same Spanish Chicken in economy flying SYD-PER early this month. Does Qantas serve the same dish in both non-transcon Business and transcon Economy, but just plated/presented differently??
