Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Hard to say given MEL-HKG is a 12:45pm departure. You might get the aperitivo/starter service on MEL-HKG ?

SIN-MEL expectation sounds correct - also if that is a points flight, watch closer to departure for any EK F openings ;)

Thankyou :) Tbh I've got my expectations very low - for everything - the seat, service and food.

My itinerary is already a capped 318k OWA so I'm not considering EK due to it not being under the OWA cap and because their taxes are ridiculous.

So with the latest update, have Qantas got rid of the Aperitivo and To Start, and now have just Mains instead, skipping the To Start options?

Seems like that's the case from the last few posts with the menu?

I've got 2 x International business class flights coming up:
Melbourne to HK - Daytime flight
Singapore to Melbourne - Night / overnight flight

Should I be expecting a Main / To Finish and then Mid Flight options on the daytime flight, and a Main / To Finish, plus breakfast on the night / overnight flight (ie. no more To Start)?
The majority of flight ex AUS have a bar service first. There is no bar service on flights deemed supper or breakfast.

MEL-HKG has bar, starter, main, dessert and light dinner into HKG (same as HND day flights and BKK).
SIN-MEL has supper and light breakfast

I didn't bother with the pics as in the main it was unremarkable looking - soup and ragu pasta is what I had, but I did feel the amount of food was very good for the 3.5 hour flight. Yes, I'd had a bit in the lounge prior, but still felt it was pretty decent offerings - at least in the mains department. Multiple breads (garlic and sourdough) offered and good drinks service too.

Flew back domestic PER-MEL QF774, a lunch flight. Choice of Barramundi with potatoes (seems an odd combo) or this - "pork steak with apple BBQ sauce" - also included the crackers(a weird sort if you ask me) and cheese on the bread plate and later was a maggie beer chocolate salted caramel ice cream. 2 choices of red and white wines also plus the Lois Lane sparkling.

(side note - IFE coughped out - seemingly only affected J. CSM offered ipads - which was a surprise they carried them?? and at the end of the flight announced she would organised for all J pax to have (unspecified amount) of points credited as compensation. Wifi worked fine, so didn't worry me.

That's a terrible offering of entrees. All three are vegetarian with two essentially being the same dish!

Was thinking the same.
Pumpkin soup or Pumpkin soup with. A dollop of sour cream.
Wouldn’t eat any of those entrees

The mains aren't any more appealing either.

I have a few QR J flights coming up this month. I'll post here for comparison if there is interest?

QF9 MEL-PER 789 3rd Sept sched 1505, actual pushback 1516 takeoff 1540 on 16, delayed by traffic

The hassle of INT security (compounded today by a stressful 10mins when I thought someone had pinched my laptop) is completely worth it for real J service within Aust, even if one does not have FLounge privileges. Very nice to turn left on boarding and see the endangered species of a printed menu:

Champagne (Duval Leroy) offered promptly on boarding by attentive FAs Colleen and Gisele, along with a jacket hanging.

Opened the batting with the very nice amuse bouche of the spinach and ricotta egg tart. The FA was very apologetic about the unavailability of the margarita, but upon learning that it was a canned premix that would have fallen so far short of MrsDrJ's and my preferred concoction of 1800 or Don Julio reposado/Cointreau/fresh lime juice (and definitely no sugar syrup), was very happy to have a Glenlivet instead.

Went with the pumpkin soup for the appetiser. While obviously way short of the pumpkin soup MrsDrJ makes, this one was certainly more than passable. More Duval Leroy accompanted.

The chicken breast was on offer on the last time on QF9, and this one was just slightly more dry but definitely still good. Accompanied by the Kirrihill Partner Series Cabernet, which while not amazing was definitely better than recent J offerings.

Finished up with the cheese platter which hit the spot nicely.

Can only hope that this kind of meal service returns on regular PER flights, though I fear nothing will happen until VA gets its act together and offers some decent competition :(
