Received the card a week ago and the regular points for purchases have posted - but not the bonus points. I already hold the Explorer Card so technically not eligible. How long does it usually take?

Good news, thanks for confirming, I bought a $50 voucher.

What is the indicator? Do you get an email?

I've answered my own question.

My test transaction has now been processed, and I am afraid that consistent with auswill's experience, the carbon offset did NOT trigger the free flight:

I checked the transaction history on my own Qantas Amex Ultimate card, and the transaction that triggered the free flight for me appeared as 'QANTAS AIR AUSTRALIA AUSTRALIA' (subtle difference).

Same result for me sadly. It does get processed as a slightly different merchant name though so I can see why. Believe a flight is processed as Qantas Airways or similar.

I tried the carbon offset (for the 2500 points - the flight is pretty much useless to me). The 0.86 cent offset triggered nothing. When I increased it to go over $1, it triggered the 2500 points. I think the important part is going over $1. I don't believe it triggered the free flight.

That's good info kcoulson, thanks :)

(maybe NoName or 2tall4Y could spend a bit over $1 for the team and confirm it is repeatable..... ;))

It normally happens pretty quickly after the minimum spend criteria is met ($1500), if you have not held a QF earning direct amex card in the previous 18 months you should be ok

Steady we have 2 QF AMEX Ultimate Cards, and it worked for both cards. Interestingly the 0.86 cent carbon transaction triggered 2 points with 1 card, and zero points with the other. You would think the automated computer process would be consistent.

I have just paid it again on MrsNoNames card. BNE-SYD for $1.04. Will advise what happens when it's processed.

Thank you kindly kcoulson and NoName - I think a number of AFF members will suddenly become more environmentally conscious as a result of your efforts :)

I will ask Mrs 2tall4Y to try again with a $1+ carbon offset, and I will try to the same on my Westpac Altitude Black (to see if it triggers the lounge passes).

I can confirm that this DOES work. Final 2.5k pts triggered & free flight activated.

Keen to hear how it goes on the bank issued card 2tall4Y

Gotta love that warm fuzzy feeling you get after carbon offsetting a flight not taken... or is that the 2500 free points and the redemption flight thats doing that?

Either way.. many thanks kcoulson and NoName!

Another data point showing that exceeding $1 is the key for the carbon offset to trigger the flight and 2,500:

Still waiting for the $1.04 carbon offset payment on the Westpac Altitude Black to clear Steady, and even then. not sure whether I should expect a confirmation email from Westpac or if the passes will just show up in the mail. But in any case, I will report back (and post on the relevant thread).

My thanks also.

For one of my cards I had to phone up and request the passes, as your not sure, you should check the Altitude thread to see if it is automatic - or requires you to do something

Just received 2 Amex Ultimate QP invites. Was advised by Amex concierge I will need to contact Amex each year to request invites, how painful.
I believe you need to opt into Qantas Altitude Black with Westpac & the lounge passes will automatically mail after first QF spend.

Wait, the Amex Ultimate card obtains two QP passes????

Hope it's right because that was 1 major downside from changing from premium to ultimate
