QP Perth Renovations

Looks like a company which has gone bankrupt and the receivers have started taking away the furniture!
That's happened about 8 years ago when a lot of ex Golden Wing Furniture began appearing in QPs around the country ...

I can see why they've said no guests, the area in the original QP plus that in the 'temp' one was tiny and bursting at the seams this morning.

There are some images up on the wall in the proper QP, outling what is happening for phase 1 to 5 of the renovations. Unfortunately I didn't have any time to check it out.

Disagree, sorry. But then my QFF starts with a 0.
So does mine ... and it is a fact that from no later than October 1994 until late 2001 or early 2002, the standard domestic QP bar opening time on the East coast was 3pm. BNE QP's bar some years opened at 2pm during daylight savings periods.

I assume there are consequences related to costs for liquor licensing that affect airline lounges' choice of opening the bar.

As some side notes/ramblings:
  • When does DJ's The Lounge (domestic) open up the bar?
  • I guess QF semi-realises that it has to have an all-day bar in the international lounges lest it look like a backward airline. I'm assuming every other airline that has an international lounge in the SWP maintains an all-day bar.
  • I can't remember if the NZ KCs in New Zealand domestic have an all-day bar, but last time I checked I don't think I saw anything (or it might have been behind lock and key). Happy to be corrected on this one.

And FWIW my QFF number starts with a 0, too, but I really didn't start flying a lot until 2005, long after the unfortunate demise of AN. I didn't have QP access until I became a SG in 2008; by that time I never took notice of when the bar opened in the QP. But then again, I don't really care :)

I believe domestically The Lounge is 11am.

The NZ Domestic K/C's I have been to do not have locks on their refrigerators.

Hope you're not referring in any way to the cute girl in white top and blue jeans in the photos!

Just referring to the lack of furniture / lack of other objects (eg vases/bookshelves/lamps) and the amount of free floor space. :)

Yeh! I'm not sure cute is the word I'd use to describe that "thing":D:rolleyes:

PTH lounge is now really small. I feel sorry for the poor staff member turning away all guests (can't be a fun conversation). Consequently its not overcrowded as members with guests generally go off somewhere else.

According to the plans, it should look good once finished and guests will be allowed back in May/June (at this stage).

On a side note, are passengers allowed into the lounge upon arrival? In PTH they seem very tough on this as often if I have arrived a few minutes early I will go to the club to check emails etc. Staff always ask for my outbound boarding pass and indicate that inbound is not good enough.

It was my understanding that at least domestically there is no issue with using Qantas lounges on arrival. PER should be no exception and indeed hasn't been for me on a couple of occasions that I've done so (pre-WP status).

Lounge Access page from QF website states for QC members & SG's ...

Member and 1 guest can access lounge on day of departure.+
+next onward flight that day must be on a Qantas, British Airways or Jetstar flight number.

Now WP any-time access aside, my reading of the above is that QF would be well within their rights to deny you entry on arrival if you do not have another onward flight that day.

That is correct.

I've been turned away from the QP as a SG at the end of the day due to this rule. Fair enough.
