What happens when priority boarding announcements aren't made at Gold Coast....

At cairns they did do priority call... as the previous flight was disembarking. No later call and then there was a huge queue of people waiting to board. Priority boarding fail.

Ahh yes. Gold Coast staff will usually call the flight for boarding T-30 no matter what happens with the aircraft, causes people to stand around confused as ever. Once the pervious flight has disembarked they'll start boarding pax straight away. Leaves you standing out on the tarmac for 10-15mins.

Noooo!

I had 5A in an international 767, went to do seat selection again and it has booted me, and I can't select again

:evil::evil:

Edit: 3rd try and suddenly a seat map with 5A free pops up again.

Not touching seat selection after allocation ever again!

Well the QF strike was a bit of a non-even as management & non-union labour loaded aircraft. It just looked like any normal weekday & out of 100 or so QF domestic flights ex BNE only 4 flights were cancelled (three to SYD & one to MEL).

Apparently TV crews were hovering the whole time desperate for a sad story even prompting some passengers with "has the disruption affected you at all" but obviously the answer "no, not at all" isn't what they wanted to hear so I'm sure we won't be seeing that on the six-oclock news. None the less it'll be interesting to see how the media portrays the subject.

The TWU QF baggage handlers gathered in the terminal in a couple of groups with TWU officials & about 0800 walked through the terminal once chanting "equal work, equal pay" then left the building.

I think it's time for Channel 9 to change their QF file tapes as yesterday they showed footage of QF Staff in the old uniforms that were obsolete in 2002.

I saw one old chap interviewed by ch 9 and asked this question. His response was "well they served me a very inferior breakfast but apart from that everything else was fine". Perhaps he wasn't a very frequent flyer and didn't realise this was standard fare on aircraft these days. Slow news day!!

Ok computer technical people I need some advice please.

I have a yahoo email account and when I log in it tells me to change my screen resolution. I don't want to, I am happy with how it is so I can see the screen properly.

So what do I do to stop this nuisance message?

Thanks

Well my iPad users better be happy tomorrow. They won the battle and now have unauthenticated internet access. But it is a filtered feed... so can't access all of the evil sites in the world that they wouldn't be able to access from their desktop. Wonder what the next complaint will be? Oh and our iPad trial is due to grow to over 250 devices soon. Lucky us.

Hmm
Try to get your national insurance (NI) contributions refunded when you leave. Get health insurance via BUPA or others, it's of variable usefulness. Are you staying for years? They had a tax-deductible investment program (ISAs in my case) which may be useful for a ten year horizon.

Public school (like in Australia) is variable but can be atrocious. Cost of living was higher in the UK but Aus is catching up. Much much cheaper out of London. Dont be afraid to eat in English restaurants, the quality can be great.

Other things- ice skating in the Strand, long walks in Oxfordshire, rural Scotland is magical, Eurostar, Easyjet, Christmas concerts at Kings College Cambridge chapel..

Looking to live near work in Oxfordshire north. Approx 2 years at this stage.... Looking forward to actually being close to everything... Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels..... And visiting the birthplace of my grandparents in Scotland....

Just got the monthly update from QF and lists my status as "Qantas Club Gold".

Interesting given i've never been a QP member.....

Hmmm, or is that just pointing out the fact that you have QC access as Gold? Or did you get automatically joined by a corporate body without your knowledge ?

As a Lifetime QC member, as well as Lifetime Silver, I don't have either next to my status. Just "Gold"...

As a Gold QFF, you have complimentary membership.

Thats been the case since 1998 of course, however why QF suddenly decide to describe it that way on the statements is interesting, given my says Qantas Club Platinum, maybe QF have resigned from One world .

It's been saying Qantas Club Gold on my statements since March last year (at least).

Edit: Traced it back to July 2009 - which is the earliest eNewslatter/point balance email I can find, and it is Qantas Club Gold in that.

Did anybody hear this PA on Virgin yesterday? The CS was instructed to read it out after the usual boarding announcement.
Aha! That's what I heard this morning on NZ7909 as we leaving CHC.

I only perceived ½ of it - nearly missed the lot exceptmy my ears pricked when I heard "Qantas".
