Bloody marvelous, my temporary crown has just broken.......after two days service! Well that will take care of my day. A nice jaunt into the city for the third time this week.

Had one put in on Sat...get a call yesterday to say the crown mob are on holidays and can't make it till mid Jan. Temp crown has to last another 3-4 weeks

I still think we're 24 hours out on the end of the world. I haven't looked into this at all, but if 21/12/12 is the last day then surely the end will be at the end of that last day. ie midnight tonight. Meaning the world will end tomorrow of those in the antipodeans.

I've heard that the Mayan's didn't know about leap years, so we should've actually gone several years ago...

Well surprisingly not that sore after my "fall" on the bus yesterday. I say fall, but I literally flew through the air, both feet off the ground and ended up on the ground at the front door. This is what happens when someone cuts in front of a bus and they slam on the brakes. I thought he'd actually cleaned up the car.

Anyway, only mentioning this because the fall was kind of ok, what I hated was the lecture from another passenger about how she holds on tightly and that it says "no standing here" on the floor. Wishing I had of pointed out that i wasn't standing up in that area and only ended up there.

Don't worry the world is ending in an hour so no problem.

Anyone catch My Sri Lanka last night on SBS, Peter got a crown for $5 from a dentist in a singlet, what a classic.

Saw this is in NZ Herald "Sideswipe" section :

Flight attendant 1, Rude Cow 0 A reader writes: "Being polite pays off - my seat was double-booked and the other lady was being a right cow about it being her seat so the flight attendant gave her the seat, then turned to me and said, "Come with me, how about business class?" So I got a free trip in business class while the lady who was rude was left moaning about being stuck in economy."

A salutory lesson for us all. Mewrry Christmas

The passports office is an interesting place today:

"I am travelling overseas boxing day and would like to get my passport renewed this afternoon please"

Good luck with that!

It's amazing what they can do.

Two PP iterations ago, admittedly before ePassorts I went to the office at Casselden Place as my new PP (that I had to wait six weeks for) was showing me me with a red complexion more appropriate to a sunburnt "Sitting Bull".

The guy went away and was back in no more than 10 minutes with a brand new passport showing the more realistic paleface me.

I dont know what the outcome was, just staggered that folks leave it to the last minute given its a holiday they booked, I suppose it is easy to overlook when its a 10 year cycle. Had a laugh with a guy in the lift who had a similar issue but had paid a priority fee Tuesday, I put mine in at the PO around the corner and got it back in the same time frame no fee, then again I am not traveling until late Jan :).

Looks like they were not the only ones in a rush, Boeing delivered 6 787s in the space of 14 hours overnight.

Is this the time we all run out to the street, look up at the sky and point and go, "Suckers!"
