 First time in 20 years I haven't had a work Christmas Party. Sober on the Friday before Christmas? cough.

Even my golf shorts have survived.

I reckon they'll outlive the coughroaches at the end of the world. :p

I just spoke to the HHonors desk and once the lady had fixed my missing stay from October she asked me what time it was in Australia. I told her about 5.00pm on Friday night. She sounded relieved and commented that it looked like the end of the world wasn't going to happen after all.

Sobriety at a work Christmas party is always recommended. Then you can blackmail err remind your colleagues what they did and show them the photos.

Well I am just home after our Christmas function.A 4 hour,11 course lunch at Wasabi,Noosa.Thank goodness the world didn't end.

Just got a job offer. Not the one I really want, but I'll take it. The real problem with it is that it comes with a (generous) car allowance, but not a car. I don't known whether to buy a cough car, or get a novated lease, knowing that the job won't last the term (because I will take a better job). Any suggestions?

Buy the most modest car that your ego will allow. Cars depreciate fast so often you can buy a 2 year old vehicle for about half the new cost. If you do this and then you change jobs you can easily sell this car without damaging your pocket.
How many Kms are to be travelled and how much a Km does the allowance pay? Often you can make a profit out of the commercial rates on offer.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. The car allowance is $17k a year, independent of kms travelled. As you say, if I take another job, at least I have an asset. Maybe a used Mazda3?

All is well in old London town

Indeed. All is well in London Town. Any suggestions on where I can get pressies wrapped? Can't seem to find any charity wrapping places anywhere, and as I've already bought my stuff I can't really go into John Lewis et.al and get them gift wrapped there :D

I think you could try to get some shorts made out of the David Jones houndstooth pattern and he could be a walking advert for them and it would be move over Miranda!
Either way loud shorts are likely to outlive coughroaches.

Sure, I have wrapping paper here - will wrap if you buy me a Bentley ;)

Did all my present wrapping last night and even changed by usual bah humbug spirit and surprised the wife by having the Christmas Tree put up before she got home.... 'twas rather (happily) surprised. Even banged out some Christmas tunes.

I am almost 4k miles from home and trying to get home... it could be worse - free beer is overratted IMHO. (yes I do like to drink :p).

Heh. Ok, a 2 quid replica should be easy to find .... :D

Was leaving Selfridges the other night, and there was a Rolls Royce w/driver waiting outside for Master (or Madam) to return with their Christmas presents. Wish life was that simple!

Yeh... it's nice for some, isn't it!

I feel suburban'ised.... I've not been into the 'city' in quite some time now! I used to be in there every day of the week, even weekends....
