This is incorrect . I didn't sell or barter my miles or my award ticket. I simply brought it from a friend who gave me the costs of the ticket back. I didn't get a chance to discuss the matter or defend what happened. It happened once and they took everything. So it clear that if any dividend miles member redeems a ticket for a friend family member other than the account holder they can not only take your miles and cancel the ticket but they can also take your sisters mothers kids even friends account who has used your computer. I'm saying this because this is what has happened to me . I don't have any dummy accounts and there is no chances and no-one to complain too.

If the taxes etc. were paid on his c/c I believe it wouldn't have been an issue. The issue is it was paid on yours.

Maybe who knows . The point is not only can they cancel your account they can take your whole households . I'm giving D.O.T a call shortly as soon as I can find the number. My first concern was arrest in the states and now that's been addressed I'm going to find out what they can and can't do. I have tried to be nice for two weeks and that didn't work.

You are in complete denial. You procured an award ticket and then you sold it to your friend at cost price. It's plain as day and against the rules.

What is so astounding is that I don't understand why you wouldn't just tell your friend to open his own account and buy his own miles with the recent promos, and you could have legitimately helped him lock in his flights with his own account, within the terms and conditions of the program.

When something goes wrong, kick your own butt first.

have you called us to ask them if your ticket to the states is still valid?

let us know what dot says. I'd be interested to know as they might actually be able to step in on your behalf which would be good.

The department of transportation is a voice record. I will have to email them. And I accept that I did give the ticket to a work friend who gave me money for the ticket regardless of how much so cancel my account and take the flight.
BUT my mum wife's , sisters , brothers and kids what did they do wrong whos butt should they be kicking , mine? I wasn't given a fair chance or any chance for that fact.
Im sure there are other members here who have done exactly the same as me purchased a ticket with their miles for a friend or relative. This would mean anytime you redeem your miles for another person not in the account holders name say a cousin then they spot you in a bar them buying you a drink and its bye bye .

I think we've moved past the crime (i.e. it's a guilty plea). The majority of discussion is the punishment.

I don't know about anyone else, but I certainly assume it to be the case for 99% of the people here. If they're helping someone else redeem a ticket, it will be using miles in that person's own account, using that person's own CC.

I wonder if I'm allowed to open a new account and start again. I still have time before this super share promo ends .

You're unbelievable. You've had accounts closed for potential fraudulent activity and your talking about opening another account??? Get your own account sorted out and forget about the extra miles for the moment..

If you do this it will likely be closed and the miles confiscated. They probably have your credit cards flagged.

This is why I was saying the letter to US is very important. If they decide to give you a second chance then you can open another account.

We need to move away from trying to scare people into thinking their accounts are gonna be closed if they give a ticket to a friend!!

I haven't heard of any cases where that has happened randomly. Each time the person 'caught' has admitted they were doing something wrong in the first place.

As has already been discussed, to any reasonable observer these were also accounts clearly managed and paid for (transactions) by YOU, a member who sold award tickets - if they also shared miles to your account then...

Can you confirm, if you've been communicating with DM Audit for 2 weeks, a have you already admitted to the sale of the ticket?

I dont know...BUT I am starting to wonder if this whole thing is a PUT-UP YARN!!!

Yes, and when you say the 'whole thing', I would say that meaning not just this alleged incident, but really, the whole thing! It's certainly something that has crossed my mind many times in the past.

The Whole Thing......................Past,Present & ..................err & Future!!!!?????.

Shanye2233,

some very simple questions that will help us all to understand with clarity. Please answer these so we can see the full picture all in one place:

1. Where did the miles come from that were used for the award ticket in question? Were they bought/shared through any or all of the "other" accounts you manage (wife, kids, mother etc)?

2. Were the "other" accounts used to work around the maximum bonus limit for an individual account and then pool all the purchased miles and bonuses into a single account?

3. Did the recipient of the recipient of the award ticket pay you only the taxes/surcharges that US charged when redeeming the ticket, or did they pay you the value of the miles too?

I think that one has already been answered (there was payment for the cost of purchasing miles give or take credit card currency conversion fees). The question is whether either Shanye or the traveler have so far confirmed to US Airways that cash payment was made.

1. They came from my account . I brought them at the last 100% promo before this sharing one started. I also shared miles with my wife's account into mine.

2. I shared miles between all accounts and left it at that. I had shared the bonus so each of the family members received 50k maximum bonus. Using my credit card and my pc every time.

3. The recipient paid me the total of the miles / taxes / fees I had to pay for purchasing the miles.

I'm not sure why mel_traveller your asking me to write a letter when I told you I have sent many emails. The first one got a reply the rest nothing returned. Their reply I posted in my second post a few days ago.
