Vinomofo Wine Deals

If all this keeps up I might have to break my rules and send mine back.
Vm probably has enough market clout to manipulate small vintners..not good ..

Just to put another perspective on the great Sharktooth cull. I have a friend who instantly ordered another 6 pack of the 2016 before he finished the first bottle. It could be great for some! I'll try mine on the weekend, but i'd guess a fair few have been opened tonight after todays shanigans!

There is something fishy going on with VM Sharktooth. I have 2017 Sharktooth from a different source but haven’t tried it. But I tried 2015 Sharktooth from a different source I thought it was very good. Here is a review for 2017. I might give it a go on the weekend. View attachment 353549
Thanks for the sleuthing OW, the only thing I agree with in terms of Kyte-Powell's review is the mention of "liniment and... decent measure of cedary oak" ) but who wants to drink Dencorub;)

I'm beginning to question whether the few "bargains" that crop up on VM offset the hit and miss selection I'm bombarded with daily (yes I know I can change the frequency of email notifications but....), I'm currently returning around 50% of my purchases which is either an indication my palate is shot or VM's buyers are snapping up a lot of very average wine. I've got a six pack of the Tellurian 2019 Tranter Shiraz sitting under the house with one consumed, others on here have enjoyed it but, although it's much better than the Sharktooth, still didn't have the impact I was expecting, I'll hold onto it for a few years and then revisit it. The 2018 Rosenvale Roseback Shiraz I thought was pretty decent and the 2020 Schild Shiraz purchased a little while back was moreish and very approachable as a go-to weekday red. It's an extremely personal business this wine appreciation caper, I would admit wholeheartedly that I have a penchant for bigger-boned somewhat lavish reds but I'm more than happy to cast my favours about (just not sure whether VM are going to get much more of my wine buying budget)...

Unfortunately for me it's the well-trodden path to the local PO and the whirr of the printer pushing out another return label that is giving me the sh*ts...

I received this email this morning:

I've just heard from our warehouse team that there was a small admin error and the Henschke Mount Edelstone Shiraz 2004 in your order has been cancelled as we've completely sold out of this particular wine!

I've gone ahead and processed your refund of $60 for you which should only take a couple of business days to reach you

And also given a $20 refund - which doesn't seem sufficient in the circumstances?
Wow, I would be nuclear-level pissed by that. It would be the baitiest bait advertising ever to get a person legitimately expecting an actual $200-plus wine for $60 only to pull it in these circs. Their system can plainly ensure they're not oversold. I'd defo threaten going to the ACCC for bait advertising. At the least I'd ask for a detailed and satisfactory explanation as to how it could be that their system accepted the sale only for it to so magically evaporate. Have the St Henris and Quintets been similarly affected? $20 is a rubbish opening compo offer.
indeed, though perhaps someone entered initial inventory as 200 instead of 20? makes me feel a bit better about missing out:

Any good VM promo codes going around?
afaik only $25 referral codes which can be used by both new and existing customers

I think it comes down to what you are expecting. I gather from your comments over the years that you like a particular style of wine and assess against that. My preference is for variety so I'm going to be more positive about something that is a little bit different (eg the I didn't mind the Douglas that so many sent back a while ago). My original commentary on the Sharktooth was positive, based on the complexity I assessed for a wine I paid $15 for. Also that it wasn't a typical shiraz, more spice/tobacco/leather is what I got from it. The Old Faithful was more Shiraz-like.

For me, Serafino's black label cabernet is a quality wine and I'm happy to pay $20-25 for it. In that context I think the Sharktooth still qualifies as good value. YMMV of course!

Looks local to me. The box is printed clearly that is is under cork, so they should know what they have in stock.
I have 2015 Sharktooth under screwcap and the back of my bottle is identical - even the barcode is the same.

However the boxes are different and done in the upright manner.

I have had couple of 2015 bottles under screwcap before and was very pleased with them.

Hence I was happy to buy another sixer from VM on the assumption they are under screwcap as described by VM

Website is interesting.. they rate the 2015.
They also own and operate a high output bottling facility that Vm could utilise …..
Perhaps someone could give them a call and ask how come the closure difference
