With the CC application phone line suspended indefinitely due to corona, they are email only at present. I have emailed them requesting a review/discussion, but not holding breath.

I emailed a week ago with an application query. I've yet to hear anything back.

Looks like applications have returned to normal. Applied for this yesterday and received an email 90 minutes later saying approved and card on the way.

Deal over, Now 100K bonus point, $150 back, 3K spend required in 3 months.

30K extra bonus points plus 75 status credits in 2nd year.

The old deal is still live here: ANZ Frequent Flyer Black | ANZ
New deal is here

Dang it. Those 2nd year deals are a killer and becoming more of a trend.

Guess the loyalty experts have wised up to churning and are trying to structure their offers in a way to reduce that phenomenon.

Happy that I applied just before they flicked over to this new deal. Noticed that Westpac have done the same with their Altitude Black offer, which is why I opted for the ANZ Black card as I only wanted to hold a card for 11 months.

The marketing is misleading but according to the T&C the 75 status credits will arrive after hitting the min $3k spend:

The bonus Status Credits are only available to Qantas Frequent Flyer members who apply for an ANZ Frequent Flyer Black credit card account, are approved and make $3,000 of eligible purchases within three months of approval.

They really needed to insert a comma or full stop into this sentence for clarity...

Plus get 75 bonus Status Credits and an additional 30,000 bonus Qantas Points when you keep your card for over 12 months.

Oh! I didn't notice that, I was convinced the 75sc would be in 12 months, after paying the renewing fee. Thanks for clarifying!

If I understand you, there is no need to wait 12 months to get the 75sc?

I believe so, the T&C make no mention of bonus SC arriving after first anniversary. My bolding on the important parts:

1. Offer available to new and approved applicants who apply for an ANZ Frequent Flyer Black credit card account. This is a limited time only offer which may be withdrawn or changed at any time without notice. Not available in conjunction with other offers, packages or promotions unless specified, or when transferring from an existing ANZ credit card. Offer not available where you currently hold an ANZ Frequent Flyer, ANZ Frequent Flyer Gold, ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum or ANZ Frequent Flyer Black credit card, or have closed, or qualified for bonus Qantas Points or a credit back on, any of those ANZ Frequent Flyer credit cards within the previous 12 months. Your application must be approved and you must activate the card and make $3,000 worth of eligible purchases within three months of approval to receive the 100,000 bonus Qantas Points and have the $150 credited to your credit card account. 30,000 bonus Qantas Points for retaining the card for 12 months will be credited to your Qantas Points balance within 3 months from the first anniversary of card approval. Eligible purchase means purchases which are eligible to earn Points. Purchases which are not eligible to earn Points are described in the ANZ Frequent Flyer Reward Terms and Conditions (PDF 1.67MB), for example fees, cash, cash equivalent transactions, balance transfers, and transactions for gambling or gaming purposes will not earn Points. The bonus Qantas Points will be credited to your Qantas account and the $150 will be credited to your credit card account within three months of the eligible spend criteria being met. The $150 credit will be applied to the purchases balance and does not constitute a payment under your contract with ANZ. If you transfer or cancel your new ANZ Frequent Flyer Black credit card account before the $150 credit and bonus Qantas Points are processed to your account, you may become ineligible for this offer. If any repayments are overdue before the $150 credit and bonus Qantas Points are processed to your account, you will be ineligible for this offer until any overdue Minimum Monthly Repayment and amounts shown on your statement as being immediately payable have been paid. ANZ will not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever resulting from a delay in the process of receiving and/or approving an application or activating the card. The bonus Status Credits are only available to Qantas Frequent Flyer members who apply for an ANZ Frequent Flyer Black credit card account, are approved and make $3,000 of eligible purchases within three months of approval. This offer is limited to one credit card application per Qantas Frequent Flyer member. Please allow 6-8 weeks after you have met the earn criteria for the bonus Status Credits to be credited to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account. Bonus Status Credits will not contribute towards attaining or retaining Platinum One, any Platinum or Platinum One Bonus Rewards, Loyalty Bonuses, or Lifetime Status or any Qantas Status Accelerator. Status Credits are not transferable and will be governed by the Qantas Frequent Flyer program terms and conditions.

Interestingly, the SC on this ANZ card do NOT count to lifetime tally:

Bonus Status Credits will not contribute towards attaining or retaining Platinum One, any Platinum or Platinum One Bonus Rewards, Loyalty Bonuses, or Lifetime Status or any Qantas Status Accelerator.

This is in contrast to SC on the QF Money Premier Plat card which apparently DO count to lifetime tally and towards P1 earn/retain:

Bonus Status Credits will not contribute towards any Loyalty Bonuses, any Platinum or Platinum One Bonus Rewards, or any Qantas Status Accelerator.

Hi All,

I am a current ANZ credit card holder and have had the same card for about 8 years. (Blue QFF credit card). $20k credit limit and its all paid up so no issue there. Income is not an issue either.

If I apply online for the ANZ Black card am I still entitled to the sign on points ? ANZ site currently shows 150,000 sign on points but the ANZ site says " Ensure if applying for an offer, you don’t currently hold and haven’t opened or closed an ANZ Rewards Black, ANZ Rewards Platinum or an ANZ Rewards credit card in the last 12 months and meet all other offer eligibility criteria".

Pretty stupid if that is the case, seems to be forcing me to close my ANZ card where I have 8+ accounts and churn to another provider.

Thoughts and suggestions ? Whatever rewards card it is must be linked to QFF points.

Correct, you won't be eligible for the sign-on bonus with ANZ. There is no reward for being loyal.

See Compare Credit Cards that earn Qantas Points | Qantas Frequent Flyer AU for a list of various cards that will earn QF points.

Thanks for the feedback Daver6, We pump millions of $ through our ANZ accounts and seems that they value new customers rather than existing ones.

It seems that the NAB Signature card is the better option ? I don't have any balance transfer requirements so there is no upside there.

Most (if not all) Visa and Mastercard cards have capped earning per month. If you're putting millions of dollars through a card then you should be looking at an Amex card as they don't tend to have capped earning (or much higher). Either the QF Amx Ultimate card or the Platinum Charge card might be a better fit for you.

MrsDaver6 has the ANZ Black card but with the annual fee due is about to ditch it. She'll be signing up the the NAB Qantas Signature Rewards cards. However, everyone's situation is different so you need to find what fits best for you.

We also have several company Amex Charge Cards and pump them hard. We use ANZ for general business and my personal banking. Never had the time to sit and look at churning but am at day 5 in quarantine its the perfect time.

Just checked credit score and its 820 experian and 888 with Equifax, 22 years of data held. Interesting considering that means they had data on me since I was 17yo!!

so can't see getting knocked back being an issue.

Thanks again for the reply mate

Just applied with NB online

Seemed like a quick easy process. I have loaded pay slips and copy of bank account via their portal after all the authentication stuff. Received a pre-approved limit 30 seconds after submitting.

Apart from not being able to make it in to a branch to do an ID check until my quarantine ends it seems that ANZ have lost a long loyal customer. Will cancel my ANZ card once the NAB one physically arrives.

There's a bit of confusion and error with the two posts.
This thread is about the ANZ Frequent Flyer (ie QFF) "line" of cards, in particular the Black card.
The ANZ Rewards "line" is separate.

The quote about the current 150k bonus is for the ANZ Rewards Black card (ie wrong thread):

Having any type of ANZ Frequent Flyer card has no bearing on the bonus for the ANZ Rewards cards.

So either you are posting the wrong link, or asking the wrong question in the wrong thread.

The right question that you didn't ask is, "If I apply for the ANZ Rewards Black card am I entitled to the bonus?". If the only ANZ card you've had in the last 12 months is an ANZ Frequent Flyer card (blue or otherwise), then the answer is: Yes.

Interesting comments, I called and checked with ANZ before proceeding across to NAB application.

They checked my record and advised that I already held a QFF rewards card and was not entitled to the "new" promotions on QFF cards which is an absolute joke. they clearly value new people rather than proven track record account holders.
